The G8 Designs Dash Kit is the G8 stereo solution found in more G8's than any other product. We've made these kits since 2013 and thousands of them are in use in G8's and Holden vehicles all around the world.

COVID CHANGED THE ELECTRONICS LANDSCAPE
The existing design we've made for years used a processor that went out of production during the Covid mess, as well as the worldwide chip shortage. We knew this would happen eventually, as it was an older architecture. for that reason, the electronic AC controller design must be redesigned using a modern processor.

 

THE NEXT GENERATION DESIGN
Fortunately for us, there are plans for our business partner Mike Folcik to create a new "TNG" or "The Next Generation" controller unit, currently in the conceptual stages. Folcik operates an electronics design firm in Utah and stays quite busy with projects that are not related to these cars. However, we're looking for his schedule to allow further work on the project in the coming year.

 

This exciting new "Next Gen" AC controller will have a new Raspberry Pi processor, dual multi-function control knobs, new capacitive-touch LCD screen, all new motion graphics, on-board Bluetooth, plus it will graphically display engine gauges and other readings on the controller screen. It will feature animated motion graphics for the screen controls, left/right swipe capability, new 3D printed outer fascia, and some other amazing new features. There will be nothing like it anywhere else in the world!
 

WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON NOW
In the meantime, we're working steadily on our new Retrofit Kit which is an exciting new UPGRADE for all existing G8 Designs Dash Kits. We've got thousands of our kits in G8's and Holden VE's around the world, on nearly every major continent, so those customers are excited about getting this major upgrade. To take advantage of the Retrofit Kit when it comes out in coming months, you would either have to own one of our existing Dash Kits, or you'd need to find somebody selling one of our kits used. ALL EXISTING KITS can be upgraded when the Retrofit Kit becomes available in coming months.
