FEATURES OF THIS NEW KIT:

1) This retrofit kit will update all existing G8 Designs dash kits with a new circuit board providing dual multi-function control knobs for physical control over airflow, temperature, and fan speed, as well as other cool functions!

2) You must have the existing G8 Designs kit to update to this retrofit kit. The new circuit board interfaces with your existing G8 Designs LCD screen to provide exciting new graphics and technology on board!

 

3) The kit will consist of; a) the Dual Knob circuit board b) new mounting hardware c) new wire harness for the board itself, and d) new 3D printed plastic fascia (with 2 molded-in holes for the control knobs). These components will install along with your existing dash kit components to provide this upgrade!

 

4) Customers can install and update their firmware using a downloadable app using a Windows PC or laptop. May eventually add smartphone updating with a USB cable, that feature is in development.

 

5) This new setup will also update SINGLE ZONE AC cars to true CLIMATE CONTROL operation! Includes new temperature probe and updated graphics version for true climate control operation.

 

6) New capacitive touch Hazards button at the top of the fascia, will provide non-mechanical hazards function and true factory-style operation even with the car off - just touch the button!

 

7) WILL PROVIDE ENGINE GAUGES ON-SCREEN - long-pressing the left knob will enable the LCD controller to display your major engine readings without the need for wiring up extra gauges! Oil pressure, oil temp, coolant temp, voltage, and other major functions will display on the screen with bar graphs/digits!

8) Provides new startup logos including G8 graphic, car silhouette, Holden, and Pontiac, all menu-selectable.

 

9) Retains ALL original factory functions such as Pollution Mode. Also automatically reads your VIN number and knows whether to enable Left Hand Drive or Right Hand Drive operation AND it knows whether to display Celsius or Fahrenheit readings based on your car's VIN. So cars outside the US will automatically display Celsius and US cars will automatically display Fahrenheit.

10) Displays Outside Temp reading AND time at the top of your DIC display (time display requires the original OnStar box and factory antenna base on the roof - OnStar service subscription is NOT required). The system reads the UTC (Universal Time Code) from the OnStar system to display the time. Time display is ONLY a US cars function because only US cars had OnStar.

 

11) This retrofit kit is currently in beta testing. We are working to get this through beta testing and get it into production ASAP!

We do not have a solid ship date yet, nor final pricing for this upgrade, but that will be announced in the coming months as soon as possible. We have a few of our existing customers doing beta testing to finalize the programming and design and work out any bugs or fixes before we begin shipping product, and all of this takes time to sort out.
